Emma Clark Sets Program Record With Three Assists as Women's Hockey Falls 7-4

PITTSBURGH, PA (November 18, 2022) --- Three players scored their first-career goal, as the King's College women's hockey team battled hard against Chatham University, ultimately falling to Cougars 7-4 Friday afternoon in Pittsburgh. With the loss, King's falls to 0-5-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the UCHC, while Chatham improves to 2-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
 
It was a quick start for Chatham (2-4-1, 2-2-1), who scored twice in the opening two and a half minutes to go in front 2-0. King's (0-5-0, 0-5-0) responded however, as first-year Madison Vaughan notched her first-career goal to cut the deficit in half at 11:59. The Cougars tallied once more in the period, just over a minute after Vaughan's goal, to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
 
Once again, Chatham scored the first two goals of the period, to push the Cougar advantage to 5-1 at 13:31. King's did not go away though, as first-year Olivia McTavish picked up her first-career goal, finishing of a pass from sophomore Emma Clark at 17:20, before first-year Amanda Sokol tallied her first-career goal just over a minute and half later, once again finishing off a pass from Clark.
 
Chatham again opened the scoring in the third period 8:36, before McTavish scored her second goal of the game, as Clark collected her third assist of the game. Down two goals in, sophomore goaltender Syd Dahl went to the bench for the extra attacker, but the Cougars tallied once more to take the 7-4.
 
Dahl got the start in net, making 50 saves on 56 shots, picking up the loss. Offensively, Clark led the offensive, setting the program record with three assists in the game, while tying the record with three points in the contest, as McTavish also tied the program record, with two goals in the game. King's won 23 of 57 face-offs being led by sophomore Jordan Dittmar who won 7 of 17. The Monarchs went 2-3 on the power play, while going 2-3 on the penalty kill.
 
Lilly Rogers made 17 saves on 21 shots, picking up the win. Offensively, the Cougars were led by Victoria Jeffords who tallied two goals and one assist. Chatham won 34 of 57 face-offs, while going 1-3 on the power play and 1-3 on the penalty kill.
 
The Monarchs finish their trip in Pittsburgh with the second game against Chatham, with puck drop at 12 p.m. at the Hunt Armory.
