WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 10, 2022) -- After a strong start to their first game in a week, the King's College women's basketball team faced offensive struggles in the second half as they fell, 60-42, to Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match up in McGrane Gymnasium. With the loss, the Monarchs head into the holiday break 1-9 overall and 0-4 in MAC Freedom play, while the Knights improve to 8-3 with a 3-1 conference mark.

King's (1-9, 0-4 MAC Freedom) started the contest strong, jumping out to a commanding 8-1 lead with 6:21 to go in the opening quarter. The Monarchs led by as much as nine, 12-3, off a jumper from first year
Gianna Dickson with 2:30 left in the period before heading into the second up 12-7. The Monarchs maintained the momentum in the second, building a double-digit advantage, 23-13, off a layup from sophomore
Lauren Casey with 5:47 remaining in the half, but Arcadia (8-3, 3-1 MAC Freedom) hung tight as King's led by just seven, 27-20, at the break.

The Knights took their first lead of the game with 8:26 left in the third and went on to lead by seven, 40-33, at the end of the quarter. The visitors would carry the momentum into the final period, and despite some solid efforts to close the deficit, King's fell, 60-42, in the MAC Freedom contest in McGrane Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Casey paced the Monarchs offense with 10 points, adding six boards, while senior
Cailin Wilson came off the bench to collect a team-high 10 rebounds with three assists. Junior
Kiersten Krouse totaled nine points with two steals, while senior
Sarah Heiskell-Mann dished out a team-leading four assists with six points, four boards, and two steals.

Abby Beam led Arcadia with 17 points and four steals, while Hanna Rhoades matched her 17-point effort with two assists. Mara Weaver collected a team-best 12 rebounds in the win as well.

As a team, the Monarchs totaled 11 assists on their 17 field goals, and their defensive efforts held the Knights to 29.7 percent (11-37) shooting from beyond the arc and forced 11 turnovers. Inside the box score, King's edged Arcadia in points off turnovers (9-8), second-chance points (12-9), points in the paint (20-14), and fast break points (2-0).

The Monarchs will be off for the holidays before returning to play as they are set to compete in the Florida Sunshine Shootout in Daytona Beach, FL. King's will take on SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. before facing Colby College on Friday, December 30 at 1:00 p.m. All contests will be held in the Ocean Center.
