Sokol Scores at Lebanon Valley Friday

HERSHEY, PA (December 2, 2022) – Amanda Sokol tallied the lone goal of the game 12:22 into the final period as the King's College women's ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision at Lebanon Valley College on Friday night in Hershey, Pa. The Monarchs now stand at 0-9-1, including 0-7-1 in UCHC play and 0-1-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) match ups, while the Dutchmen improve to 2-8-0 with a 1-6-0 UCHC record and 1-2-0 MAC standing.
 
Lebanon Valley (2-8-0, 1-6-0 UCHC, 1-2-0 MAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opening period despite nine first-period shots from the Monarchs. A stalemate ensued in the second period as King's (0-9-1, 0-7-1 UCHC, 0-1-1 MAC) went into the final break still trailing, 3-0.
 
The Monarchs dominated the final period, out shooting the Dutchmen 12-8. After the hosts posted their fourth goal of the contest at the four-minute mark of the period, King's fired off five shots over the next 8:22 before Issy Lebrun and Jordan Dittmar fed Sokol for her third goal of the season as King's pulled within 4-1 with 7:38 left in the contest. The Dutchmen would tally one final goal down the stretch before handing the Monarchs the 5-1 loss on the road on Friday night.
 
Sokol posted her goal with three shots in the game, while both Dittmar and Lebrun picked up points with their assists. Dittmar also recorded a team-best 13 face off wins, while Olivia McTavish posted a team-high five shots, including three in the opening period. Syd Dahl remained strong in goal, making 29 saves, including all 12 shots faced in the scoreless second period.
 
Five different Dutchmen recorded goals while Jade Julius posted a goal and an assist, and Erin Yorke tallied two assists with a team-high six shots. Tiffany Anderson led Lebanon Valley with 15 face off wins, and Shelby Guinard earned the win in goal with 27 saves.
 
King's totaled 28 shots in the contest while blocking six shots and winning 30 face offs in the contest.
 
The Monarchs will be back on the ice at Hershey Park Arena tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Dutchmen to complete the road weekend at 2:00 p.m.
