Women's Hockey Hangs Tough, Falls to Lebanon Valley 1-0 Saturday

HERSHEY, PA (December 3, 2022) --- The King's College women's ice hockey team battled hard against Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon at Hersheypark Arena falling to the host Flying Dutchmen 1-0. King's falls to 0-10-1 overall, 0-8-1 in UCHC play, and 0-2-1 in MAC play, while Lebanon Valley improves to 3-8-0 overall, 2-6-0 in UCHC play, and 2-2-0 in MAC play. 
 
Lebanon Valley (3-8-0, 2-6-0, 2-2-0) tallied the first two shots of the game, before first-year Madison Vaughan tallied King's (0-10-1, 0-8-1, 0-2-1) first shot at 2:07. The teams traded chances over the next five minutes, before LVC opened the scoring on the power-play, on a tally from Cheyenne Wilk at 7:28. Neither team scored in the remainder of the period, as the Flying Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. 
 
King's opened the second period tallying the first two shots, as first-year Amanda Sokol and sophomore Kait Wolf had efforts turned aside. Once again, the squads traded chances for the rest of the period, but LVC remained on top 1-0 after the second period. The Flying Dutchmen notched the first three shots of the period, before junior Emma Dos Santos's effort was turned aside. The Monarchs looked for an equalizer, but ran out of time, as Lebanon Valley took the contest 1-0. 
 
Sophomore Syd Dahl got the start in net, making 37 saves on 38 shots. Dos Santos led King's offensively tallying four shots, while graduate student Issy Lebrun recorded three, while first-years Payton Lloyd, Olivia McTavish, and Vaughan all added two shots. King's won 19 of 53 face-offs, led by sophomore Jordan Dittmar who went 10-17, while Lebrun picked up four blocked shots. The Monarchs went 0-6 on the power-play and 4-5 on the penalty kill. 
 
Olivia Magneson made 19 saves in net for LVC, picking up the win. Wilke led the offense, tallying in goal on four shots. The Flying Dutchmen won 34 of 53 face-offs and went 1- on the power-play and 6-6 on the penalty kill. 
 
King's will have the rest of the month off for the holidays, before the Monarchs return to action on Friday, January 6, hosting Arcadia University at 3 p.m. at the Revolution Ice Centre,
