WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 6, 2023) --- The King's College women's ice hockey team returned from the holiday break Friday afternoon at The Revolution Ice Centre, falling to visiting Arcadia 5-0. King's falls to 0-11-1 overall, 0-9-1 in UCHC play, and 0-3-1 in MAC play, while Arcadia improves to 5-5-2 overall, 1-4-2 in UCHC play, and 1-0-0 in MAC play.

Arcadia (5-5-2, 1-4-2 UCHC, 1-0-0 MAC) started the contest firing off the first two shots, before King's (0-11-1, 0-9-1 UCHC, 0-3-1 MAC) had their first two efforts, by first-year
Svetlana Yarosh and junior Diana Duncan, were blocked. Arcadia eventually broke through however at 12:48, as Brooklyn Hendrickson found the back of the net to put the Knights up 1-0. The teams traded chances, before the Knights doubled their lead late in the frame, as Ariel Williamson corralled the rebound, to put Arcadia up 2-0 at 18:33, with assists from Hendrickson and Bridgit Terry.

The second period started much like the first ended, as both teams traded opportunities, with the Monarchs having two power plays in the opening seven minutes. But it was Arcadia who found the net midway through the frame, as Morganne Dee scored off assists from Williamson and Terry to put the Knights up 3-0 at 11:25, which is how the game stood after 40 minutes.

The teams again traded chances to open the third period, before Arcadia got a power play seven and a half minutes in. Maeve Hourihan scored a minute into the advantage, as Berklee Hibbard picked up the assist to put the Knights up 4-0 at 8:33. King's looked to get on the board with some late chances, but were turned aside before, Arcadia a fifth goal late, off the stick Hourihan at 19:29.

Syd Dahl got the start in net, making 46 saves 51 shots. Graduate student
Issy Lebrun and first-year
Olivia McTavish led the Monarch offense as both tallied two shots. King's was strong in the face-off circle, winning 32 of 58 draws, led by sophomore
Jordan Dittmar won nine of 16, while Lebrun won six of nine, and first
Madison Vaughan won five of six. The Monarchs went 0-3 on the penalty kill, and 0-3 on the power play.

Hannah Bergeron picked up the win net, turning away all 10 shots that we faced. Offensively, Arcadia was led by Hourihan who tallied two goals and Williamson who recorded a goal and an assist. The Knights went 3-3 on the power play and 3-3 on the penalty kill, while winning 26 of 58 draws.

King's returns to action tomorrow afternoon, to finish off the weekend series with the Knights, with puck drop scheduled for 2 pm at The Revolution Ice Centre.
