DAYTONA BEACH, FL (December 30, 2022) -- The King's College women's basketball team dropped their second game to Husson University, 73-43, in the Florida Sunshine Shootout in Daytona Beach's Ocean Center. The Monarchs return home with a 1-11 overall record, while the Eagles head back north holding a 7-4 record.

Husson (7-4) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead as the game swayed in favor of the Eagles early before the Monarchs trailed, 17-5, at the end of the opening period. King's (1-11) would hang tough throughout the final 30 minutes before dropping the 73-43 final on day two of their time in the Florida Sunshine Shootout on Friday afternoon.

Caileigh Costello led King's off the bench with nine points, adding a steal and a block, while
Toni Amato came off the pine to add seven points on 2-of-3 shooting.
Kathy Shepherd posted six points, while
Lauren Casey led King's with nine boards, adding five points, two blocks, and a steal. Additionally,
Kiersten Krouse dished out a team-leading three assists, while
Sarah Heiskell-Mann had a well-rounded game of six caroms, two assists, two points, a block, and a steal.

The Eagles were led by Bailey Donovan's double-double of 22 points and 13 boards with four blocks and a steal.

The Monarchs remained consistent defending the three-point shot, holding Husson to 21.1 percent (4-19) from beyond the arc. King's tallied 11 assists on 15 field goals, and were just slightly edged, 40-38, in the battle on the boards. The Monarchs bench also held the advantage in bench points as the King's bench posted 27 points to just 23 from Husson's.

King's will return north to prepare for the 2023 portion of their schedule. The Monarchs open the next calendar year in McGrane Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 4 as they host FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom play with tip off set for 7:00 p.m.
