WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 5, 2022) -- Gus Petruske IV earned his second straight pin for the Monarch wrestling squad in a hard-fought loss to visiting SUNY Oswego on Saturday afternoon at McGrane Gymnasium in Wilkes-Barre.

The Monarchs and Lakers battled back and forth going through the lower weights before the visitors won four straight matches from 165 to 197 to earn the match victory.
Petruske scored a second period pin at 133 to give King's a 6-5 lead in the match. It was his sixth fall of the year and second straight after earning a fall last week at Lycoming. The Lakers won 141 to take a 9-6 lead. Robert Zelinski battled his way to a 12-6 decision over Logan McGloine to tie things up before Jackson Marcantonio gave KC a 12-9 lead with a 15-10 decision at 157.

The Lakers won the next four bouts to take a 24-12 lead. Three of the matches were extremely close as Kade Kravits dropped a 11-5 decision to seventh-ranked Charlie Grygas, Billy Grace lost in overtime to Bryce Smith, and Jason Sine fell by a tight 10-8 decision to Anthony Cascen. Dave White finished the dual with a 5-2 decision at 285.

The Monarchs will return to the mat next Friday when they host Centenary University at 7 pm.
