Le Cadre Posts Two Top Finishes to Lead Monarchs at Monarch Invitational

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 19, 2022) -- Senior Justin Le Cadre led an excellent outing by the Monarch throwers, finishing first in the discus and the hammer throw, to lead the King's College men's outdoor track and field team at the Monarch Invitational at the Betzler Track on Saturday.

On the Track:
100 Meter Dash

Brendan Avery posted a MAC qualifying mark of 11.64 in the preliminary heat. Malkam Lawrence came in with a time of 12.11 in his heat, while Andrew Sabo rounded out the Monarchs competitors with a time of 12.41. Noah Zeigler from Marywood won the event in 11.03, narrowly missing the track record of 11.02 set in 2019 by Emmanuel Edoukou.

200 Meter Dash
Brendan Avery was the lone King's competitor in the event as he finished fourth overall in 23.89. Noah Zeigler of Marywood finished first overall with a time of 23.13.

800 Meter Run
Tyler Petty posted a third-place finish with a time of 2:04.42, while teammate Logan Taylor finished in 2:20.45. Unattached competitor Khalil Dickinson finished first in 2:03.06.

1500 Meter Run
Logan Taylor came in with a time of 4:43.71 in his outdoor debut in 2022. Marywood's Jack Baronski finished first with a time of 4:10.89.

Field Events:
High Jump

Teone Sherrod led King's with a MAC Outdoor Championship qualifying mark of 1.86 to tie for first overall with Eastern's Jonathan Nixon. Patrick Bennie met the MAC Outdoor Standard to qualify for the championship meet with a jump of 1.77m, while Travis Lane finished with 1.55m mark.

Pole Vault
Travis Lane finished fourth overall with a height of 2.70m. Misericordia's Matthew Maransky won the event with a mark of 3.80m.

Long Jump
Patrick Bennie was the lone Monarch in the event as he recorded a jump of 5.21m on his second attempt. Miseircordia's Matthieu Brunelle finished first with a mark of 6.56m.

Triple Jump
Patrick Bennie also represented King's in the triple jump with his best attempt coming on his third attempt, finishing third with a 11.98m jump to qualify for the MAC Outdoor Championship meet. Matthieu Brunelle of Misericordia won the event with a distance of 13.08m.

Shot Put
Carnell Kemp recorded the best mark of the day, finishing first overall, with a toss of 14.34m on his second attempt and qualifying for the championship meet. Jetli Tang finished fifth with a throw of 10.67m on his first try.

Discus
Le Cadre smashed the track record of 42.55m that he set in 2019 with a toss of 42.80m on his first throw, posting a first-place finish and qualifying for the outdoor championship meet. Carnell Kemp finished second overall, also qualifying for the MAC Championships with a toss of 38.80m on his fourth attempt, while Travis Lane threw for a mark of 31.06m on his third attempt.

Hammer
Le Cadre posted his other top finish as he recorded a throw of 48.76m on his second throw, surpassing the MAC outdoor standard. Jetli Tang finished second with a throw of 35.90m to post his championship qualifying mark also on his second attempt.

Javelin
Travis Lane and Coit Holbrook finished tied for fourth overall for King's with a mark of 46.22m, both qualifying for the MAC Outdoor Championships, as both hit the mark on their second attempt. Jacob Wells from Goldey-Beacom won the event with a throw of 53.60m.

The Monarchs will be back in action this upcoming weekend, March 25 and 26, as they travel to Susquehanna University for the Jim Taylor Invitational.
