WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 21, 2022) -- In their MAC Freedom home opener, the King's College baseball team dropped a pair of contests to the visiting Arcadia University on Monday afternoon at Lipo Field. The Monarchs fall to 5-5 overall and 0-3 in MAC Freedom play, while the Knights improve to 13-3 and 3-0 in conference as they handed King's the 13-0 loss in game one and 8-3 decision in game two.
Game 1 - L, 0-13:
The Knights took advantage of some early errors by the Monarchs to plate a run in the first inning and added another in the second on an RBI single to center field. Four more runs crossed in the third on four hits as Arcadia took a 6-0 lead over the Monarchs.
A solid defensive play by King's ended the fourth on a run down between first and second, but not before the Knights run scored to put the visitors ahead, 7-0. Arcadia had another big inning in the fifth as they saw four more cross on five hits. The Knights tallied their final run of the game in the seven on a two-RBI single to left center to post the 13-0 final in the opener at Lipo Field.

Brennen Schneider, and junior
Pat Noone all recorded hits in the loss, while sophomore
Chase Yochem was awarded the loss as the starter, giving up five earned runs on four hits and striking out two.
Joseph Kumar paced the Knights with a 3-for-3 day at the plate with three runs. Nick Fossile recorded the win as the starter on the mound in 4.0 innings of work, giving up all three hits in the game.
Game 2 - L, 3-8:
Arcadia struck first again in the nightcap on an RBI groundout to go up 1-0 in the first. King's took their first lead of the day as they found some rhythm at the plate thanks to a pair of RBI doubles to center from Yochem and first year
Zach Day to go ahead, 2-1.
The Knights plated a run in both the third and the fourth on an RBI bunt single in the third and a solo home run in the fourth to regain the lead, 3-2. Arcadia scored twice in the fifth on two hits to increase their advantage to 5-2. King's closed within two, 5-3, as Day got on with a one out double and scored on consecutive singles from sophomore
Gregory Ahlstrom and first year
Jacob Sutton.
A quick fifth inning set up two more tallies from the Knights in the sixth and another in the seventh as they closed out an 8-3 win in game two over the Monarchs.
Day went 2-for-3 as both hits were doubles, with a run and an RBI. He also recorded the loss as the starter in 3.1 innings pitched, giving up five earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Yochem recorded one hit on a double, one run, and one RBI.
Emilio Pallante led Arcadia as he went 3-for-4, with two doubles three RBIs and two runs. Zach Steiger was awarded the win in 3.0 innings, allowing earned runs on two hits.
King's has a quick turnaround as they take on Penn State Schuylkill tomorrow afternoon in non-conference play at 4:00 p.m. at Lipo Field.
