ORLANDO, FL (March 7, 2022) -- Inclement weather shortened King's College tennis in their second day of their spring training trip and their matchup with the University of Northwestern (MN) at the USTA National Campus.
The women's contests were called due to the rain as the Monarch women were trailing, 3-0.
The men's team were able to complete all doubles contests and No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of
Tommy Hallahan and
Logan Gregory fell, 8-2, to the Eagels. Then the No. 2 doubles pair of
Patrick Pech and
Aidan Temple dropped an 8-0 decision to Northwestern. Finally at No. 3 doubles,
Cody Zheng and
Jacob Nelson lost, 8-0.
Logan Gregory trailed 6-0, 5-1 before the No. 1 singles matchup was called due to the weather. At No. 2 singles,
Tommy Hallahan fell behind 6-1, 4-0 in the unfinished matchup, and
Patrick Pech faced a 6-2, 2-1 deficit at No. 3 singles.
The completed singles matches included a 6-2, 6-0 loss at No. 4 singles by
Aidan Temple, a matching 6-1 defeat at No. 5 singles for
Cody Zheng, and a 6-1, 6-0 fall at No. 6 singles from Jacoby Nelson.
The Monarchs are back on the courts early this morning as both squads take on Trine at 8:00 a.m. at the Star Island Resort in Kissimmee, FL.
