Jacob Nelson earned two wins to lead King's College men's tennis team in their 6-3 loss to Alvernia University at Kirby Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Nelson picked up his first win at No. 6 singles as he defeated Dylan Blotz by set scores of 6-1 and 6-3. He then teamed up with first year
Cody Zheng at No. 3 doubles to blank the Golden Wolves pair, 8-0.
Junior
Logan Gregory earned the other win for King's in the loss, defeating Michael Brophy by matching scores of 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
In No. 2 singles, first year
Tommy Hallahan fell by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 to Lucas Berger. No. 3 singles play saw first year
Patrick Pech drop matching sets of 6-1 to Jayden Lewis. Sophomore
Aidan Temple was defeated by sets of 6-3 to Thomas Figurelli at No. 4 singles, before first year
Cody Zheng retired after losing set one, 6-4, and trailing 4-3 in set two at No. 5 singles.
The pair of Gregory and Pech dropped an 8-3 decision to the Golden Wolves at No. 1 doubles, while Hallahan and Temple lost a gritty 8-5 match at No. 2 doubles to Alvernia.
The Monarchs are back on the courts tomorrow afternoon as they take on Clarks Summit University in non-conference play at Kirby Park at 4:00 p.m.
