MADISON, NJ (April 24, 2022) -- The King's College women's tennis team continued their momentum from yesterday's win to defeat FDU-Florham on the road on Sunday, 7-2, in the MAC Freedom match. The Monarchs improve to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the MAC Freedom, while the Devils fall to 6-5 and 2-3 in the conference standings.
First year
Ashley Kenia earned a win by retirement after a gritty match against Kayla Dello Iacono at No. 2 singles. Kenia won set one, 6-4, before Iacono tied the match with her own set win of 6-4. Kenia was ahead 3-2 in the final set before Iacono retired. Sophomore
Briana Moraca picked up a win at No. 3 singles over Maggie Cronkhite by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Junior
Emily Morano toughed out a win at No. 4 singles over Erin Weller as Morano earned the set one win, 6-4, before Weller tied the match with her own 6-4 win. Morano then outlasted Weller 12-10 in the final set to secure the win. The No. 5 singles match saw sophomore
Braelan Drollas earn set wins of 6-2 and 6-0 over Marina Lemin, while first year
Hailey D'Amato won be forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Doubles play saw Morano and D'Amato defeat the Devils pair 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Drollas and first year
Sarah Stettler earned a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
Junior
Addie Atkins dropped her No. 1 singles match by matching set scores of 6-0 to Nicole DelRosso. Atkins and Kenia then paired up at No. 1 doubles, falling 8-1 to the Devils team.
The Monarchs will head down to Williamsport, Pa. tomorrow afternoon for their third MAC Freedom match in as many days for a 3:00 p.m. start at Lycoming College. King's will conclude the final week of the regular season on Saturday at DeSales University.
