EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 30, 2022) -- The King's College baseball team dropped two heartbreaking contests at cross-town rival Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-3 in game one and 4-1 in game two of the MAC Freedom doubleheader. The Monarchs conclude their 2022 season as they finish 11-22 overall with a 3-18 conference mark, while the Colonels improve to 24-15 and 10-11 in the MAC Freedom.
Game 1 - L, 3-7:
Wilkes (24-15, 10-11 MAC Freedom) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as they plated a single run in the first, third, and fifth innings. King's (11-22, 3-18 MAC Freedom) responded as they tied the game with a three-run sixth inning.

Jacob Sutton singled through the left side before junior
Pat Noone hit a one-out single through the left side. First year
Zach Day reached safely on a Colonels error to load the bases to set up an RBI walk from junior
Brandon Loner. A single to right field from sophomore
Chase Yochem plated Noone, while a sacrifice fly from sophomore
Brennen Schneider scored Day to tie the game, 3-3, heading to the bottom of the sixth.
The host Colonels staged their comeback in the bottom of the sixth, tallying four runs on three hits, and the Monarchs were only able to put one runner on in the top of the seventh as they fell, 7-3, in game one of the MAC Freedom doubleheader.
Five different Monarchs recorded a hit in the loss, while three different King's players scored. Loner, Yochem, and Schnedier drove in the runs for the Monarchs. Senior
Shane Beyer recorded the loss as he went the distance, giving up six earned runs with three strikeouts.
Three Colonels recorded multi-hit games in their 10-hit effort. Tony Molitoris earned the in the complete game, allowing one earned run on five hits.
Game 2 - L, 1-4:
The Colonels struck first again as they plated on run on a sacrifice fly in the first and used a three-run home run in the third to take the 4-0 lead.
King's got one back in the fifth as Noone doubled down the third-base line and scored on an RBI single to center from Day.
Each team recorded a hit each in the final innings as the Colonels earned the 4-1 win over the Monarchs for the MAC Freedom series sweep on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Chase Yochem led the Monarchs as he went 3-for-3 with two doubles. Baiera added a 2-for-2 effort, while Noone also recorded two hits in the loss. First year
Matt Martin posted the loss as the starter, throwing 2.2 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits. Junior
Will Hronich threw well in 3.1 innings of relief, holding Wilkes scoreless and striking out two.
Dominick Bayo and Nick Pronti each totaled two hits in the win for the Colonels, while Granahan drove in three with his home run in the third. Gage Coudriet remained unbeaten as he improved to 6-0 in 6.0 innings of work, allowing just one earned run on eight hits. Sawyer Kemp earned the save in the final inning for the Colonels.
