WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 30, 2022) -- In their 2022 season finale, senior
Emily Sims continued her strong finish to the season as she recorded the hat trick in the King's College women's lacrosse team's 24-3 loss to top-ranked FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in the MAC Freedom contest. The Monarchs finish their 2022 season 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the MAC Freedom, while the Devils improve to 15-2 with an 8-0 record in the conference.
FDU-Florham (15-2, 8-0 MAC Freedom) netted three goals in the opening minutes of the game before Sims scored her 18
th goal of the season with 10:18 left in the opening period. The Devils then scored 13 unanswered goals to go up 16-1 before Sims netted her second of the day with 5:04 left in the half. FDU-Florham found the net once more before the half, as King's (3-12, 2-6 MAC Freedom) trailed 17-2 at the break.
The two teams traded goals to start the period, as Sims got a feed from first year
Chloe Burke with 10:59 to play in the third period, trailing 18-3, but it was all Devils the rest of the way as the Monarchs fell, 24-3, in the MAC Freedom contest.
Sims led with three points on three goals on three shots, adding two ground balls and a team-best five draw controls. Burke added a point on an assist, while first year
Alli Lindsay picked up a team-high four ground balls. Sophomore
Sidney Bush recorded the loss as the starter in goal for the Monarchs.
Lizzy Escudero led the Devils with 16 points on 11 assists and five goals, while Katie Walsh led with four ground balls and five draw controls. Maddy Apap earned the win in three periods of action while making three saves.
