Pech Wins Again in King's Loss to Cross-Town Rival

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 5, 2022) -- First year Patrick Pech earned the lone win for the Monarchs as the King's College men's tennis team fell, 8-1, to cross-town rival Wilkes University in MAC Freedom play on Tuesday afternoon at Kirby Park. The Monarchs fall to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in MAC Freedom play, while the Colonels improve to 5-4 with a 1-0 conference mark.

Pech recorded the win at No. 3 singles as he defeated Connor Frey by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Junior Logan Gregory dropped sets of 6-1 and 6-3 to Cole Gibson at No. 1 singles. No. 2 singles play saw first year Tommy Hallahan fall, 6-1 and 6-0, to Nick Putney.

In No. 4 singles play, sophomore Aidan Temple dropped decisions of 6-0 and 6-1 to Jacob Bosler. The No. 5 singles matchup saw first year Cody Zheng lose to Rodniel Senson by sets of 6-1 and 6-0. First year Jacob Nelson rounded out singles play with losses of 6-0 and 6-3 to Donovan Zong at No. 6 singles

Doubles play featured the pairing of Greogry and Hallahan fall to the Colonels team, 8-3. Pech and Temple joined as they fell, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles, while Zheng and Nelson lost by a score of 8-0 to the Colonels.

The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday as they travel to FDU-Florham for a MAC Freedom match with the Devils starting at 1:00 p.m. in Madison, NJ.
