Robbins Scores in Loss to Susquehanna

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 14, 2022) -- After a thrilling first period that saw the visiting Susquehanna University River Hawks leading the host King's College field hockey team 2-1, the scoring stalled across the final 45 minutes of action as the Monarchs fell, 2-1, in non-conference play at McCarthy Stadium. King's now falls to 1-4 after four closely contested match ups, while the River Hawks improve to 3-2.

Susquehanna (3-2) got on the board in the opening minute as Ashley Schreffler fed a nice pass into the arc to find Emma Campitelli and put the River Hawks up a goal 38 seconds into the game. The River Hawks added another tally in just shy of the fourth minute as Annalee Smith tallied her fourth goal of the season with King's (1-4) trailing 2-0.
King's made a strong push down the stretch in the first quarter as sophomore Hannah Chocallo received a great insert from junior Abby Wolfe and sent the ball toward the goal for Hannah Robbins to tip it in and pull King's within 2-1.

The strong offensive start slowed drastically down the stretch despite a valiant effort by the Monarchs in the final minutes as the River Hawks claimed the 2-1 win over the Monarchs on Wednesday afternoon in the non-conference contest.

Robbins led King's with two shots, both on target, while Sara Whitesell, Emma Clark, and Ali Tedik all added shots on goal. Ellie Glatz was sound in the net again as she posted a season-high 10 saves in the loss.

Ashley Shcreffler and Katie Bucher both tallied four shots with two on goal for the River Hawks in the win. Mackenzie Bross recorded three saves in the win.

King's will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Wilkes University in their MAC Freedom home opener. The game is set for a 5:00 p.m. start in McCarthy Stadium as the Monarchs will also celebrate senior day prior to the game.
