Forst Makes Six Saves, Men's Soccer Fall to Dickinson 2-0

CARLISLE, PA (September 7, 2022) --- The King's College men's soccer team battled hard, but ultimately fell on the road, falling to Dickinson College 2-0 on Wednesday night.

With the loss King's falls to 1-3 on the season, while Dickinson improves to 2-1.

It was a cagey affair, which was seen early as King's got a penalty kick in the second minute, however Liam Yair's attempt was turned aside by Red Devils goalkeeper Andrew Kempe. Both teams then traded shots over the next 20 minutes before Dickinson struck first in the 22nd minute. Following the opening goal, King's upped the pressure, finishing the half with the three corner kicks and two shots on target.

At the half, Kings led in shots 4-3, with the sides even in shots on goal at three apiece. Additionally, the Monarchs dominated in terms of corner kicks, heading to the break leading 6-1.

Coming out of the half, Dickinson put a few efforts on goal, but Monarchs goalkeeper Jake Forst was up to the task keeping the score at 1-0. Looking for an equalizer, King's increased their pressure, getting four more corner kicks between the 58th and 69th minutes, but were unable to find the tying goal. Six minutes later, Dickinson tallied a second goal, on a rebound following a save from Forst, making the 2-0 in the 75th minute. King's continued to seek a breakthrough goal, rattling off five more shots, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The shots finished almost identical, with Dickinson having a slight 10-9 advantage, while King's had a decided advantage in corner kicks 11-3. The sides combined for 24 fouls, along with four yellow cards, three to the Red Devils and one to the Monarchs.

Offensively, King's were led by Christopher Vollrath and Evan Egnatovich who both tallied two shots, while Forst was solid between the sticks collecting six saves in the game.

On the Dickinson side, the Red Devils were led by Johnny Melancon and Saul Iwowo, who each tallied a goal, while Kempe made five saves in the Dickinson cage.

The Monarchs return home to McCarthy Stadium to face off against Centenary University (New Jersey) on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 4 pm.
