NASHUA, NH (January 28, 2023) --- The King's College women's ice hockey team fought hard again against Rivier, coming up short against the Raiders, falling 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. With the loss King's falls to 0-17-1 overall, while Rivier improves to 6-10-2 on the season.

King's (0-17-1) started quickly on the road, opening the scoring just over six minutes into the contest. Sophomore
Ani Quindipan found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore
Kait Wolf to put the Monarchs in front 1-0 at 6:16. The teams traded chances for the remainder of the period, as King's took a 1-0 into the first intermission.

Rivier (6-10-2) came out in the second period looking to tie up the contest. The Raiders broke through eventually, midway through the middle frame, as Brianna Rumptz beat sophomore goaltender
Syd Dahl at 12:19 off an assist from Brianna Parent to tie the game at one. The score remained tied after 40 minutes, and in the third period, the teams once again traded opportunities. However, neither side was able to find the go-ahead goal as the game headed to overtime still tied at one. King's opened the extra period with some good looks, but were unable to find the back of the net, before an outlet pass from Molly Dukesherer sprung Briana Paxson on a breakaway, to give Rivier the 2-1 win.

Dahl was strong in net, turning aside 37 of 39 shots faced in the contest. Offensively, the Monarchs were led by Quindipan and Wolf, who recorded a goal and assist respectively. King's won 20 of 46 face-offs, while going 2-2 on the penalty kill and 0-2 on the power play.

Morgan Madelyn got the win in goal for Rivier, stopping 29 of 30 shots faced. The Raiders had five players record one point, led by Paxson and Rumptz who both tallied a goal. Rivier went 0-2 on the power play, while going 2-2 on the penalty kill, winning 26 of 46 face-offs.

King's returns to Wilkes-Barre but will be the visiting team in the cross-town battle as the Monarchs take on Wilkes on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex.
