WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 11, 2023) -- 
Jake Forst was a force to be reckoned with in goal Wednesday night. The senior made several astonishing saves to keep the Monarchs in the game till the last minute in their 1-0 loss to Washington College (MD.).
King's College (5-5-1) stepped up to the challenge and played an incredible game against undefeated Washington (8-0-5) at McCarthy Stadium. The Shoremen pressed the Monarchs net the entire first half, taking nine shots and placing seven on net. Forst denied the Shoremen's attack, making several one-on-one saves that kept the Monarchs alive and motivated. In the first half Forst only surrendered one goal while making six tremendous saves. The Shoremen score came late in the first half off the foot of Katim Nije. Nije was assisted by Tucker Sprano.
With the game still in reach the second half, the Monarchs had several opportunities to make their way down field to try to score a goal.

Kyle Carroll both had great shot attempts to try to even the score but were not able to find the back of the net on their chances. In the closing minutes King's continued to move the ball up the field and pressure Washington; however, it wasn't enough as the Shoremen found themselves ahead 1-0 at the final whistle.
The Monarchs were led by Forst in net who recorded nine saves on the night and provided the Monarchs with the energy they needed to battle the entire match. Yair, Carroll and 
Trevor Jones all had great shot attempts for King's.
The Shoremen were offensively paced by Shepherd Koffie, who placed three shots on goal. Nije scored the lone goal for Washington, and Sprano picked up one point with an assist. Cole White had three saves on the night.
The Monarchs will return to McCarthy Stadium for their third Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom game of the year on Saturday, as they host Misericordia University at 1 p.m.
