WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 15, 2023) --
Patrick Pech picked up two of the Monarchs three wins on Sunday morning as the King's College men's tennis team fell, 6-3, to SUNY Oneonta at Kirby Park. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 0-1 overall while the Red Dragons improved to 3-1.
Pech earned a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Noah Khair 6-4 and 6-1, before teaming up with
Aidan Temple at No. 2 doubles to hand the Red Dragon pair an 8-4 loss. The other Monarch win in the match came at No. 1 doubles as
Logan Gregory and
John Toussaint battled out an 8-6 decision over Oneonta.

In No. 1 singles play, Gregory took the opening set, 6-2, over William Schmid, but Schmid rallied to defeat Gregory by scores of 7-6 and 10-5 in the final two sets. Toussaint fought valiantly in the No. 2 singles match up, claiming the first 6-4 before falling 7-5 and 15-13 to Chris Chippari. At No. 4 singles, Temple was downed by a pair of 6-2 sets to Brayden Stuart, while
Brendan Turowski dropped sets of 6-3 and 6-0 to Joshua Mann in the No. 5 singles match up.
Cody Zheng rounded out the singles play with set losses of 7-5 and 6-0 to Zachary Blaakman, while the No. 3 doubles pair of Turowski and
Jacob Nelson faced an 8-0 setback to the Red Dragons.

King's will break for the winter and return to action this upcoming spring, including their competitive Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) schedule.
