WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 15, 2023) -- The King's College women's tennis team collected three wins in a 6-3 setback to SUNY Oneonta, all in singles play, in the non-conference match on Sunday afternoon at Kirby Park. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 0-1 on the season, while the Red Dragons improved to 9-4.

Hailey D'Amato continued her strong play this fall, defeating Haley Peck in the No. 2 singles match, 9-7. The other two wins came at No. 5 singles as
Sarah Stettler toppled Kelly Hayes, 8-3, while
Emma Rooney handed Rhiannon Axtmann an 8-6 decision at No. 6 singles.

In No. 1 singles play,
Ashley Kenia fell, 8-1, to Julia Holtermann, while
Jackie Costello was downed by an 8-2 decision to Danielle Copp at No. 3 singles. Rounding out the singles competition was
Carlee Dellose who lost a tough 8-5 match to Illana Ger at No. 4 singles.

Doubles play featured Kenia and D'Amato dropping an 8-4 contest at No. 1 doubles, while Costello and Dellose faced an 8-6 setback in the No. 2 doubles match. Another close match resulted in an 8-5 loss by Stettler and Rooney at No. 3 doubles.

King's will be off for the winter before returning to play this upcoming spring, including their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) slate.
