ORLANDO, FL (March 4, 2024) -- The shorthanded King's College women's tennis team fell, 9-0, to Trine University as they opened their spring schedule in their annual spring training trip in Orlando, FL. With the setback at the Fort Gatlin Recreation Center, the Monarchs fall to 0-2 in dual matches this season, while the Thunder improved to 4-2.
Doubles action saw the No. 1 pairing of
Ashley Kenia and
Hailey D'Amato fall to the Thunder, 8-2, while
Jackie Costello and
Carlee Dellose dropped a tough 8-5 decision in the No. 2 match.
In singles play, Kenia was downed by a pair of 6-3 decisions to Elina Locane in No. 1 action, while D'Amato posted set finals of 6-0 and 6-2 against Emilee Bassett at No. 2 singles. Costello fell by scores of 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles to Alexis Maloney, and Dellose posted matching 6-1 setbacks at No. 4 singles to Haley Straub.
Emma Rooney rounded out the match at No. 5 singles with a pair of 6-0 losses to Kennedy Outwater.
King's will head over to Kissimmee, FL and the Oak Street Park Community Center to face Ursinus College tomorrow afternoon. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
