Leah Sankey and
Brooke Finlay delivered with their own respective equalizers, and it was
Liz Porto's game winner in the 56
th minute that lifted the King's College women's soccer team over Lebanon Valley, 3-2, on the road on Saturday afternoon in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match up. With the victory, the Monarchs improve to 6-7-2 for the 2023 season and 2-2-1 in the MAC Freedom standings, while the Flying Dutchmen drop to 5-6-2 and 2-3-0 in the conference.

Lebanon Valley (5-6-2, 2-3-0 MAC Freedom) struck first, placing their second shot of the game into the back of the net 9:09 into the contest. The Flying Dutchmen continued their attack, getting two more looks at a score but a corner kick for King's (6-7-2, 2-2-1 MAC Freedom) that saw Sankey sail her ball into the net to tie the match, 1-1, in the 18
th minute.

The hosts netted their second goal of the game just four minutes later, and after a save by
Aspen Wallin 1:02 later, the Monarchs returned the offensive push as
Ashley Dias fed a ball to Finlay to knot the score again, 2-2, with 4:21 remaining in the half.
Maryanna Garcia placed a shot on the goal in the final 1:04 of the first that was saved by the Flying Dutchmen goalkeeper as the game went into the break tied, 2-2.

Each team had a look early in the second, but it was Porto who took a quick hit from Garcia to lace the ball into the goal and put the Monarchs on top for the first time in the game, 3-2, in the 56
th minute. King's continued to control the pace of the game before the Flying Dutchmen made their final push with two attempts in the final 3:40 of play, but Wallin cleared the first and the second went out wide right as King's secured the 3-2 MAC Freedom win over Lebanon Valley on the road on Saturday.

Finlay scored her goal on a team-high six shots with four on frame, while Garcia tacked on five attempts with her assist. Porto tallied her goal on her lone shot in the contest, while Sankey scored off four shots with two on target. Wallin collected the win in the complete-game effort, posting five saves.

Jordan Lasky scored twice on five shots for the Flying Dutchmen, while both Abrielle Miller and Sierra Young recorded assists. Jocelyn Umana collected nine saves in goal for Lebanon Valley.

As a team, the Monarchs edged out the Flying Dutchmen in shots, 18-16, and shots on goal, 12-7, in the win.

King's will head out again on Wednesday evening, taking on FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ at 7:00 p.m.
