ANNVILLE, PA (October 28, 2023) -- Jessie Smalley posted two fourth-quarter goals as the King's College field hockey team fell, 6-3, on the road at Lebanon Valley College in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday evening. The Monarchs conclude their 2023 season 3-16 overall and 0-7 in the conference, while the Flying Dutchmen improve to 12-6 and 5-2 in the MAC Freedom.
 
Lebanon Valley (12-6, 5-2 MAC Freedom) came out with a strong start, scoring five unanswered goals, but Melanie Tlatenchi put King's (3-16, 0-7 MAC Freedom) on the board off an assist from Ashley Thalassinos in a penalty corner opportunity in the 25^th minute. The host Flying Dutchmen put up one more tally in the half as the Monarchs trailed, 6-1, at the break.
 
After a scoreless third quarter, King's made their final push as Smalley scored her first goal with 2:56 to play on a feed from Emma Clark. Despite holding the Flying Dutchmen scoreless across the final 30 minutes of play, Smalley's second tally with 1:28 remaining in the game, this time on a pass from Ashley Thalassinos, came up short as King's fell, 6-3, on Saturday evening in Annville.
 
Smalley recorded her two goals on two shots, while Thalassinos, Tlatenchi, and Megan Harry all posted an attempt in the loss. Grace Venis made seven stops in the cage in the loss for King's.
 
Six different Flying Dutchmen scored in the victory, while three players recorded team-high two shots each. Lacy Bigelow made two saves in the second half, while Lauren Jancsarics posted a clean sheet in the first 30 minutes.
 
As a team, the Monarchs placed all five of their shots on goal in the loss while earning three penalty corner opportunities.
