Shepherd and Kindall Take the Monarchs to a 3-0 Road Win

NEW KENSINGTON, PA (OCTOBER 6, 2023) -- The King's College women's volleyball team swept the Nittany Lions of Penn State- New Kensington 3-0 Friday evening. The Monarchs are now 10-6 overall for the season.

King's controlled much of the opening first set. Penn State- New Kensington would try to take control, but the Monarchs won 25-18.

King's maintained their momentum in the second set. The Monarchs bested the Nittany Lions with a 25-7 hot streak. 

In the third and final set, Penn State- New Kensington battled back against the Monarchs. Though King's continued to pester their opponents and remained victorious. Monarchs won 25-14.

King's ended the night with 30 kills, 15 assists, six blocks, 46 digs, and a hitting percentage of 0.163. Joy Kindall (So.) and Kathy Shepherd (So.) both had a team high of eight kills. Keely Hoban (Jr.) dished out 14 assists for the squad. Morgan Williams (So.) fueled the defensive end with 19 digs. 

Penn State- New Kensington's Kayla Unger led with three kills and seven assists. Hannah Pastor and Emily Lewandowski also had three kills for the Nittany Lions. Kayla Carnahan sparked the defense with 19 digs.

The Monarchs have a short turnaround as they will be facing the Barons of Franciscan University on Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. The squad will be back in McGrane Gymnasium for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom matchup to take on Delaware Valley at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th.
