Minor-Shaw Named MAC Offensive Player of the Year to Highlight a Program-Best 13 on All-MAC Football Teams

NEWTOWN, PA (November 14, 2023) -- On Tuesday afternoon, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) released the 2023 All-MAC Football Teams. Quarterback Russell Minor-Shaw highlighted this year's program-best 13 honorees as he was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year. Minor-Shaw was also named to the All-MAC First Team as a quarterback along with offensive lineman Nate McGlone, while defensive lineman Dallas Solomon and defensive back Joe Carchio picked up All-MAC First Team recognition for the defense. Second Team nods went to tight end Ryan McCombs, wide receiver Mike DiGregorio, linebacker Jared Reto, defensive back Amir Gibson, and punter Anthony Prato. Honorable Mention accolades were awarded to running back Jayon Hailey, offensive lineman Liam Carroll, defensive lineman Jassiem Lettsome, and linebacker Colin Hazelton.

Minor-Shaw is coming off a record-breaking campaign for King's as he earns his first career All-MAC honors. He was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week three times this season while setting the single-game touchdown record with six passing touchdowns against Alvernia and surpassing the previous single-season passing touchdown mark of 19 with his 20th pass this past Saturday. The Radnor, Pa. native led the MAC in total offense with 255.6 yards per game, ranking second and leading the team with 75.4 rushing yards per contest with 10 rushing touchdowns. He also finished the regular season fourth in passing yards per game with 180.2 on 1,802 total yards, fifth in scoring at 6.0 points per game, and third in scoring touchdowns with 10. Additionally, the quarterback placed 12th in all-purpose yards at 76.1 yards per contest. Minor-Shaw receives the program's first Offensive Player of the Year honor since Damon Saxon earned MAC Player of the Year recognition in 2000.

McGlone picks up his first career All-MAC honors this year as the center for the Monarchs offensive line. The Langhorne, Pa. native appeared and started in all 10 games up front, helping lead a run-game effort that averaged 162.4 yards per game, which ranked third in the MAC, with 19 rushing touchdowns. The offense also topped the MAC in the regular season with the best passing offensive efficiency rating at 145.0.

Solomon receives his second career All-MAC honors after earning All-MAC Second Team in 2022. The defensive lineman helped lead a run-game defense that ranked second in the MAC, limiting opponents to just 100.3 yards per game with eight touchdowns. He ranked 12th in the MAC with a team-best 4.5 sacks while also finishing 19th in the MAC with 9.0 tackles for loss. Additionally, the Hazleton, Pa. native posted 45.0 total tackles with a team-high six quarterback hurries and a pass break up.

Carchio had a stellar finish to his career as he earns his first All-MAC First Team recognition and second All-MAC nod. The defensive back tied for first in the MAC with three forced fumbles, ranked third in tackles for loss with a team-leading 14.5, and added a conference seventh-best and team-high 78.0 total tackles. The Brick, N.J. native also ranked in the top of the conference in the regular season as he finished 14th in passes defended with eight, including seven break ups and an interception, and 24th in sacks with 3.0. The defensive back was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week once while also picking up two D3football.com Team of the Week nods throughout the season.

McCombs stepped right into a starting role this season as he earns his first career All-MAC honors as the tight end was voted to the All-MAC Second Team. The Brick, N.J. native ranked 18th in the MAC in scoring touchdowns with five while placing 23rd in scoring at 3.0 points per game. He finished the regular season with 18 catches for 18.90 yards per game while also recording 13.0 total tackles as an essential member of the Monarchs special teams unit.

DiGregorio was a versatile offensive threat this season as he tabs his first career All-MAC Honors on the Second Team as a wide receiver. He led the MAC in punt returns at 9.8 yards per return while also placing seventh with a team-high 55.1 receiving yards per game and a conference-best seven touchdown catches. For the season, the local Old Forge, Pa. For the 2023 season, he ranked seventh in all purpose yards at 82.6 yards per game, eight in scoring touchdowns at seven, and 11th in overall scoring 4.6 points per game. Overall he posted 43 catches for 551 yards at 55.1 yards per game.

Reto is coming off a great junior season after earning the starting nod at linebacker to earn All-MAC Second Team accolades. The Bangor, Pa. native ranked 11th in the MAC and second on the team with 69 total tackles, adding 5.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, four pass break ups, and a quarterback hurry. He was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after his stellar performance in the win over FDU-Florham.

Gibson built off his All-MAC Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore in 2022 to earn Second Team accolades in 2023. The Philadelphia, Pa. native tied for first in the MAC with 10 break ups while ranking third in passes defended with 13 total. He also recorded three interceptions while posting 33.0 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Prato had a great season on special teams as he picked up All-MAC Second Team recognition as a punter. The Brick, N.J. product ranked second in the MAC at 37.4 yards per punt, recording six tries for over 50 yards and 14 inside the 20-yard line. Additionally, he tied the single-longest punt record earlier this season with his 73-yard punt against Eastern.

Hailey continued his strong performance this season as a sophomore to earn All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades as a running back. He ranked fourth in the MAC in all purpose yards at 89.1 yards per game and 10th with 44.3 rushing yards per contest, totaling 399 yards on 83 carries. The Yeadon, Pa. also placed 13th in the MAC in receiving yards at 39.3 yards per night with four touchdowns on 354 yards on 28 catches. Additionally, he ranked 17th in total offense at 44.3 yards, 20th in scoring touchdowns with four, and 26th in scoring at 2.7 points per game.

Carroll was an essential member of the Monarchs offensive line primarily as a left tackle to earn All-MAC Honorable Mention. The Easton, Pa. native played and started in all 10 games during the regular season and helped lead a run-game effort that averaged 162.4 yards per game with 19 rushing touchdowns. The Monarch offense ranked third in the MAC in the run game while leading in offensive passing efficiency at 145.0.

Lettsome continued to shine on the Monarchs defensive line this season as a senior to pick up his first All-MAC honors with a spot on the Honorable Mention squad. He helped lead the second-ranked run defense, limiting teams to 100.3 yards per game and just eight touchdowns. The Scklerville, N.J. native recorded 29.0 total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks with four quarterback hurries and a pass break up.

Hazelton rounds out the record-breaking honoree totals with an All-MAC Honorable Mention nod as a linebacker. The nearby Throop, Pa. product ranked fifth in the conference in tackles for loss with 13.0, 20th in sacks at 3.5, and 33rd with 49.0 total tackles. He returned from an injury during the 2022 season to help lead a balanced defensive effort, adding three quarterback hurries, two pass break ups, an interception, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick.

Delaware Valley claimed the remaining major awards, as Anthony Puntolillo was named Defensive Player of the Year, Jack Fallon earned Rookie of the Year, and Duke Greco repeated as Coach of the Year.
