Pittston, PA (Nov. 17, 2023) -- King's College women's ice hockey team fell short 1-0 in overtime against the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen at the Monarchs' home rink, Revolution Ice Centre on Friday night. The Monarchs are now 1-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC).
Both King's and Lebanon Valley battled head-to-head throughout the entire game in an attempt to find the back of the net. Monarch's goalkeeper
Hayley Packer tallied a season-best total of 27 saves as well. They recorded 12 shots on the game, including three from
Brighton Wallin, two from both
Kait Wolf and
Amanda Sokol, and one each from
Abby Barlocker,
Aspen Wallin,
Ani Quindipan,
Emma Dos Santos and
Maddie Vaughan. The Flying Dutchmen notched 28 shots for themselves, but ultimately found the goal just 46 seconds into overtime when Maeghan Howson sent a lifted shot just over Packer's head into the net. Howson's goal was assisted by Erin Yorke.
The Monarchs will get a rematch with the Flying Dutchmen tomorrow in their second game of the UCHC series at 2:00pm back in Revolution Ice Centre.
