Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Colonels Skate By Monarchs 5-0

WILKES BARRE, PA (Nov. 26, 2023) - - The King's College men's ice hockey team lost 5-0 to Wilkes University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) matchup on Sunday afternoon at the Colonels' home rink, Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street, in Wilkes Barre, PA. The Monarchs are now 2-4-0 in the conference and 2-6-0 overall this season.

Both the Monarchs and Colonels battled to find the back of the net in the first period, but ultimately ended the period in a 0-0 draw. King's goalkeeper Matt Bidini tallied six saves in the first 20 minutes of play while the Monarchs out shot the Colonels 11-6.

Despite the Monarchs' efforts in the first period, it was not enough to hold back the Colonels for much longer. Wilkes scored the first goal of the game four and a half minutes into the second period and followed up with a second goal with seven minutes left on the clock. The Colonels ended the second period with a 2-0 lead despite Bindi having 18 saves in the cage in the period alone. The Monarchs only managed to take six shots in the second 20 minutes of play.

The Colonels continued to build to their lead in the final period and notched three more goals. Nick Swain tallied two goals for Wilkes in the third period in the 1:49 and 8:08 minutes, while Cole Jungwirth found the net around the three and a half minute mark. Wilkes ultimately won the game 5-0.

Despite the loss, Stefan Lakoseljac tallied four shots for the Monarchs, followed by Kent Lee with three. Lakoseljac also led on defense with two blocksalong with Teodor Vaage and Erik Borschevsky, while Bidini finished with 34 saves on the day.

The Monarchs take the ice again on Friday Dec. 1 at home in Pittston, PA, at Revolution Ice Centre in a UCHC and MAC conferences match up against Arcadia University at 7 p.m. for the first of a two-game series.
