WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 12, 2023) -- On senior day in McGrane Gymnasium, the King's College wrestling team saw its seniors lead the Monarchs to a tri-meet sweep, defeating Hunter College, 44-9, before snapping a six-dual losing streak to the University of Scranton with a 42-9 victory. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 6-5 in duals, while the Royals drop to 6-10 with the split, and the Hawks fall to 0-10 overall.

vs. Hunter – W, 44-9:
Senior
Gus Petruske IV led things off for King's (6-5) in the opener as he earned a win by fall in 2:28 over Hunter's (0-10) Diego Perez at 125. First year
Cole Anderson matched that effort with a fall in 1:01 over the Hawk's Naman Basin at 133, before the 141 bout saw first year
Hugh Bittenbender post a 24-7 technical fall win over Deston McFarlan. The Monarchs continued to wrestle well against Hunter as first year
Shane Kibler earned a 9-7 decision over Jahongir Davronov to push their lead to 20-0 after the 149 match up.

Kade Kravits swept the next three bouts by forfeit as the Monarchs advantage swelled to 38-0. The Hawks would get on the board at 184 as first year
Connor Wrobleski was downed by an 11-8 decision to Gevorg Arakelov, but sophomore Rich Fronheiser followed that contest up with a forfeit win at 197 to give King's the 44-3 lead. Hunter would secure the final win in the match at heavyweight as Jacob Raboy earned a fall victory over senior
Johnny Rivera.

Patrick Horvath earned a win by fall in 4:30 over Diego Perez at 125, while sophomore
Nick Germano posted a dominant technical fall victory in 4:27 over Urbas Oev.

vs. Scranton – W, 42-9:
Petruske picked up his second win of the day by an 11-1 major decision over Scranton's (6-10) Justin Schifter at 125 before Anderson recorded his second fall of the day in 4:04 in 133 action over Shkeb Nadir to give King's the early 10-0 edge. The Royals got on the board at 141 as Brandon Judge earned a win by fall over Bittenbender, but Kibler continued to wrestle well with a 9-1 major decision over Kosta Mavrikidis at 149.

Murphy came out strong to dominate the 157-weight class with a fall in 1:20 over Ethan Wilson, but Scranton answered with a 3-2 decision win as Jeremiah Oakes outlasted Theroux at 165. Kravits got his first action of the day at 174 as he commanded the mat with a fall in 52 seconds over Jake Rudy before Fronheiser matched that effort with a fall in 4:45 over Scranton's Ryan Bihasa-Lenahan.
Senior
Bill Grace had a thrilling victory in the 197 bout as he used two quick takedowns in the opening period and a dominant 7-0 effort in the third to earn the 12-0 major decision win over Jose Falcon. Sophomore
Jacob Feese rounded out a successful match with a fall in 2:04 over Hunter Marhan to secure the 42-9 win for the Monarchs as they pick up their first win over Scranton since 2015.
