Wall and Schreiner Score, Men's Lacrosse Falls to Marywood

WILKES-BARRE, PA (MARCH 22, 2023) --- The Kings's College men's lacrosse team finished up non-conference play, falling to visiting Marywood University 13-2 on Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium. With the loss, King's falls to 0-7, while Marywood improves to 3-4.
 
King's (0-7) struck first, scoring early in the contest, as sophomore Jack Wall finished off a pass from fellow sophomore Jake Cierech to put the Monarchs up 1-0 at 13:51. Marywood (3-4) respond as Dalton Metzger got the Pacers on the board at 11:01, tying the game at one. King's retook the lead shortly after, as sophomore EJ Schreiner hit the back of the cage at 10:10 to put the Monarchs back on top. King's held onto the lead, and took the 2-1 advantage into the second quarter.
 
Marywood tallied four goals in the second quarter to take a 5-2 lead at halftime. The Pacers continued their run into the third quarter, connecting on five more goals, taking a 10-2 advantage into the final quarter. In the fourth, Marywood added three more goals, as the Pacers came away with the 13-2 victory.
 
Senior Joe Plachcinski got the start in the cage and collected eight saves. Wall and Schreiner each tallied a goal to pace the Monarchs attack, while Schreiner and sophomore Ben Spencer both recorded three shots on goal. King's held the advantage in face-offs, winning 10 of 19, led by junior Geno Casciello who went 8-14 on draws. The Monarchs forced two Pacer turnovers on the evening, while King's went 3-6 while a man down, and 0-4 on man-up opportunities.
 
Colin Trainor earned the win in goal and finished with 13 saves for the Pacers. John Scibello led the Marywood offense, recording five points on one goal and four assists. The Pacers won nine of 19 face-offs, while causing seven Monarchs turnovers.
 
King's will have a week off before opening up MAC Freedom play against Delaware Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium .
