WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 29, 2023) -- The King's College men's tennis team bounced back after a tough match on Sunday as they defeated the visiting Clarks Summit University, 8-1, in non-conference play at Kirby Park on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 3-4 in dual matches, while the Defenders fall to 0-3.
King's (3-4) dominated doubles play as
Logan Gregory and Adian Tample defeated the Clarks Summit (0-3) pair, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles action, while
John Toussaint and
Brendan Turowski recorded a similar outcome, 8-2, over the No. 2 Defenders doubles pair.
Patrick Pech and
Jacob Nelson secured the doubles sweep for the Monarchs with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Singles play saw Gregory sweep Andrew Taft by a pair of 6-0 sets in the No. 1 singles bout, while John Toussiant picked up set wins of 6-3 and 6-1 over Jake Judson at No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles play,
Nick Harth handed Trevor Lawson losses of 6-3 and 6-2 in their match, before
Aidan Temple secured wins of 6-3 and 6-1 at No. 4 singles over Harrison Mickel. The Monarchs earned their final win of the match at No. 5 singles as
Jacob Nelson defeated Sam Knapp, 6-3 and 6-1. Clarks Summit's lone win of the match came at No. 6 singles as
Alex Nole fell, 6-2 and 6-1, to the Defenders' Owen Mileham.
King's will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at Kirby Park as they are set to host another non-conference match with Cairn University. Action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
