Monarchs Down Highlanders in Dominant Fashion

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 30, 2023) -- In their second match in as many days, the King's College men's team swept Cairn University, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon at Kirby Park to pick up their second straight win. The Monarchs improve to 4-4 overall, while the Highlanders fall to 2-6.
 
King's (4-4) began their dominant effort with a sweep in doubles play. No. 1 doubles saw Logan Gregory and John Toussaint defeat the Highlander pair, 8-2, while Patrick Pech and Aidan Temple topped Cairn's (2-6) No. 2 doubles team, 8-3.  The Monarchs completed the sweep as Nick Harth and Jacob Nelson handed the Highlanders an 8-0 loss at No. 3 doubles.
 
Singles play saw the impressive performance continue, with Gregory earning the 6-0 and 4-0 set wins at No. 1 singles over Michael Wilson. Then in No. 2 singles play, Toussaint handed Timothy Robinson Jr. losses of 6-3 and 6-1, while Pech picked up a pair of 6-0 set wins over Joel Kim in the No. 3 bout.
 
In No. 4 singles play, Nick Harth cruised to wins of 6-0 and 6-1 over Joel Cassel, and Aidan Temple won the No. 5 singles contest with set victories of 6-4 and 6-3. The sweep concluded in the No. 6 singles match as Brendan Turowski swept Ethan Fan with set wins of 6-0.
 
King's will open its MAC Freedom schedule on Saturday, weather permitting, as they host FDU-Florham at 11:00 a.m. before taking on Stevens Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m. at Kirby Park.
