WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 30, 2023) -- The King's College women's tennis team picked up its second win in as many days as the Monarchs defeated Cairn University, 7-2, at Kirby Park on Thursday afternoon. The Monarchs improve to 2-5 overall in dual matches, while the Highlanders fall to 3-4.

King's (2-5) earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, as the No. 1 pair of
Ashley Kenia and
Hailey D'Amato defeated Cairn's team, 8-7 and 7-0 in the tiebreaker, while
Jackie Costello and
Braelan Drollas won the No. 2 doubles match, 8-6. The Highlanders picked up their win at No. 3 doubles as
Payton Lloyd and
Emma Rooney fell, 8-3.

The Monarchs had a strong outing in singles play as well, starting off with a win at No. 1 singles as Kenia defeated Paige Kemper, 6-3 and 6-4.
Hailey D'Amato earned set wins of 6-1 and 6-4 over Rachel Campbell-Robertson in No. 2 singles play, while the No. 3 singles match saw
Jackie Costello post wins of 6-4 and 6-0 over Ersy Neal.

In No. 4 singles play,
Braelan Drollas downed Rebekah Hepp, 6-1 and 6-0, while
Emma Rooney picked up wins of 6-4 and 6-2 over Gabriella Hurst in the No. 6 singles pairing. The Highlanders earned their second win of the match at No. 5 singles as
Payton Lloyd fell by a pair of 6-2 sets to Abby Horning.

King's will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday as they host both FDU-Florham and Stevens at Kirby Park to open their MAC Freedom schedule. The Monarchs will take on the Devils at 11:00 a.m. before battling the Ducks at 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
