ORLANDO, FL (March 5, 2023) -- The King's College men's tennis team got a hot start to their spring 2023 slate as they defeated Immaculata University, 8-1, to start their annual spring training trip in Orlando, FL.

In doubles play, the pair of
Logan Gregory and
John Toussaint dominated No. 1 singles, 8-0, over Jason and Troy Watts. The No. 2 doubles match up featured another strong outing from the Monarchs as
Patrick Pech and
Aidan Temple handily defeated Jeremy Brown and Nicholas John, 8-1. The duo of
Brendan Turowski and
Jacob Nelson completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles, defeating Alex Polidoro and Sean Chalmers by a score of 8-1.

King's picked up their lone loss of the match at No. 1 singles as Gregory dropped sets of 6-3 and 7-5 to Jason Watts. Newcomer Toussaint started his singles play with the Monarchs strong, defeating Troy Watts 6-1 in the opening set before falling in set two, 4-6. Toussaint battled in the final set to defeat the Mighty Mac, 10-5. Pech handily defeated Jeremy Brown by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Other singles action featured a 6-2 and 6-0 win for
Aidan Temple at No. 4 singles and matching 6-1 sets by
Brendan Turowski over Nicholas John in the No. 5 match. King's wrapped up their dominant performance with set wins of 6-4 and 6-2 over Sean Calmers at No. 6 singles.

The Monarchs will be back on the courts in Florida bright and early tomorrow morning as they face Trine University at 7:30 a.m. at the USTA National Campus. King's will also compete against University of Northwestern (MN) at night in a 6:00 p.m. match.
