EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 12, 2023) -- The King's College men's tennis team extended their win streak to three with a dominant 9-0 win over cross-town rival Wilkes University in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match on Wednesday. With the victory, the Monarchs improve to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom, while the Colonels drop to 0-7 and 0-4 in the conference.

The sweep in doubles play began at No. 1 doubles as
Logan Gregory and
John Toussaint handed the Colonels pair an 8-4 loss, before
Patrick Pech and
Aidan Temple teamed up in No. 2 doubles action to defeat Wilkes, 8-3.
Nick Harth and
Brendan Turowski rounded out the doubles victories with an 8-0 romp at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Gregory battled with Nathanial Rathe at No. 1 singles, winning set one 6-4 before falling 6-4 in set two. Gregory pulled out a gritty 10-7 win in the third to earn the No. 1 singles match. Toussaint then picked up wins of 6-3 and 6-4 over Connor Frey in the No. 2 singles contest, while Pech handed Jonah Nguyen a pair of 6-0 losses at No. 3 singles.

The No. 4 singles match up featured Harth defeating Donovan Zong, 6-2 and 6-3, before Temple posted set wins of 6-4 and 6-1 over Ian Williams in No. 5 singles play. Turowski completed the sweep with sets of 6-1 and 6-0 in No. 6 singles over Drew Fiedler.

King's will look to continue its winning ways tomorrow afternoon as they are set to host DeSales University. Action in the MAC Freedom match is set for a 3:30 p.m. start at Kirby Park.
