WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 16, 2023) -- The King's College men's tennis team swept their tri-match, defeating both Elizabethtown College and Rutgers-Camden, 8-1, on Sunday at Kirby Park. The Monarchs now improve to 9-7 overall for the 2023 spring season.
Vs. Elizabethtown – W, 8-1:
In doubles play,
Logan Gregory and
John Toussaint beat the Blue Jays, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles, while
Jacob Nelson and
Cody Zheng fell at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. The pair of
Patrick Pech and
Aidan Temple earned a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
Singles play say Gregory earn set wins of 6-4 and 7-6 over Max Lauver at No.1 singles, while
John Toussaint defeated Sam Langer, 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Patrick Pech defeated Luke Paulson by a pair of 6-0 sets at No. 3 singles, while Aiden Temple picked up wins of 6-2 and 6-3 over Isaac Reichenbach at No. 4 singles.
Brendan Turowski was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-0 and 6-1, while
Alex Nole earned a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Vs. Rutgers-Camden – W, 8-1:
Doubles play saw Gregory and Toussaint win, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles, and both the No. 2 doubles team of Pech and Temple and the No. 3 doubles squad of Turowski and Nelson sweep Rutgers-Camden by sets of 8-0.
Gregory posted set wins of 6-2 and 6-0 over Edward McWilliams at No. 1 singles, while Toussaint defeated Patrick DeMareo by sets of 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 2 singles. The No. 3 singles match saw Pech defeat Christopher Abacan, 6-1 and 6-0, while Temple picked up a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 4 singles over Hani Qureshi.
Cody Zheng fell in No. 5 singles action to Matthew Tepfer, falling in set one 6-2 and three 10-6 after winnings et two 6-2.
Alex Nole defeated Thanh Ngo, 6-1 and 7-6, to complete the match at No. 6 singles for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs are set to host Lycoming College in a MAC Freedom match on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Kirby Park.
