WILKES-BARE, PA (April 18, 2023) -- In an important Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match, the King's College women's tennis team fell, 6-3, to Lycoming College on Tuesday afternoon at Kirby Park. With the loss, the Monarchs drop to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the MAC Freedom, while the Warriors improve to 8-7 with a 3-3 conference mark.

Doubles play saw the Monarchs pick up a win at No. 3 doubles as
Payton Lloyd and
Emma Rooney defeated the Warriors pair, 8-5. The No. 1 doubles team of
Ashley Kenia and
Hailey D'Amato fell, 8-3, while
Jackie Costello and
Braelan Drollas dropped an 8-5 decision in the No. 2 doubles match.

Kenia earned a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Hannah Seebold, 6-0 and 7-5, while D'Amato won King's their final point in the match with set wins of 6-3 and 6-1 over Emily Wolfgang in the No. 2 singles match.

No. 3 singles action saw Costello fall, 6-3 and 6-4, to Rei Saar, while Drollas posted set losses of 6-0 and 6-2 to Emma Kelchner at No. 4 singles. Lloyd battled in the No. 5 singes contest, winning set one, 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker, before falling, 6-2 in the second. She would eventually fall, 10-8, in the third to Sarah Lanphear. Rooney dropped a pair of 6-4 sets to Hiyori Iai in the No. 6 singles match up to round out the action on Tuesday afternoon.

King's will look to get back in the win column on Friday afternoon as they take on Arcadia University in their MAC Freedom regular-season finale. Action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. in Glenside, Pa.
