WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 23, 2023) --
Hailey D'Amato picked up a pair of wins as the King's College women's tennis team fell by a heartbreaking 5-4 decision to Susquehanna University on Sunday afternoon at Kirby Park. The Monarchs fall to 5-13 overall, while the River Hawks improve to 3-12.

Ashley Kenia and D'Amato earned the Monarchs' win in doubles play, defeating the River Hawks, 8-2. D'Amato won her second match of the day with set wins of 6-2 and 7-5 over Chelsea Kneedler at No. 2 singles.
Payton Lloyd earned a win in the No. 5 singles match, defeating Julia Pardo 6-3 in the first and third sets despite a 6-2 setback in the second, while
Emma Rooney defeated Olivia Tepes in No. 6 singles action by sets of 6-2 and 6-3.

The No. 2 doubles match saw
Jackie Costello and
Braelan Drollas fall, 8-6, despite a tough battle with the Susquehanna pair, while Lloyd and Rooney were downed, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles. Kenia dropped sets of 6-4 and 6-1 to Julia Bramley in the No. 1 singles contest, while Costello posted set losses of 6-4 and 6-2 to Grace Tepes at No. 3 singles. Drollas rounded out the match for the Monarchs as she fell, 6-3 and 6-0, in the No. 4 singles contest to Kristen Bair.

King's will wrap up their 2023 spring season with a non-conference match at Penn College on Wednesday afternoon. Action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
