Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls, 3-0, to McDaniel on Saturday

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 16, 2023) -- In the second game of the Homecoming Weekend tripleheader at McCarthy Stadium, the King's College field hockey team fell, 3-0, to the visiting McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs now stand at 0-6 overall, while the Green Terror improve to 2-3.

It was an evenly contested match up through the first 15 minutes, but King's (0-6) held a slight edge as they fired off a pair of shots before heading into the second scoreless. McDaniel (2-3) struck first, finding their rhythm in the quarter as they put up two goals with the Monarchs trailing, 2-0, going into the break.

The third quarter mirrored the first as the teams seemed to go toe-to-toe over the frame, and the Green Terror put up an insurance goal late in the fourth to hand King's the 3-0 loss at McCarthy Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Emma Clark led the Monarchs with two shots, both on the cage, while both Jessie Smalley and Hannah Chocallo added shots in the loss. In the cage, Grace Venis tallied four saves.

McDaniel was paced by Morgan Collins who recorded a goal off a team-high five shots, while both Olivia Vanreusel and Emma Legacy also added goals. Tenley Pelot picked up two points on a pair of assists, both in the second quarter, for the Green Terror. Lora Scarangello posted the shutout in goal while making two saves.

As a team, the Monarchs totaled four shots, including two on target, while falling slightly in penalty corners by a 9-6 edge.

King's will head back out on the road for a short trip over to Wilkes University on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. before opening a five-game home stand on Thursday.
