Bolich and Scott Help Lead King's to a 3-0 Sweep

PHOENIXVILL, PA (SEPTEMBER 28, 2023) -- The King's College women's volleyball team bested the Patriots of Valley Forge (2-11) in a 3-0 series Thursday night in The Pit. The Monarchs are now 9-3 heading into the weekend.
 
King's started off strong with a 14-3 start right out of the gate with the help of four kills by Emily Scott (Sr.) and points by Emma Bolich (Fy.), Mia Campanile (So.), and Kathy Shepherd (So.). Valley Forge would try to have one last push with two consecutive points making the score 17-7. The Monarchs continued to maintain their momentum and took the first set 25-7.
 
The second set was much like the first and King's took an early 15-5 lead that included tallies by six different Monarchs. The Patriots would produce two consecutive points within the matchup, but King's had every answer. With two final kills by Emma King (Fy.) and Bolich, the Monarchs won 25-9.
 
In the third and final set of the evening, the Patriots came back with vengeance and created a 4-1 burst. With a kill by Campanile, the Monarchs tied the set 5-5. From then on, King's controlled the match with numerous kills by Madisyn Heiser-Elsea (Fy.), Adriana Conforti (Jr.), Scott, Shepherd, and Bolich. The score was 19-9 when Valley Forge created their own 6-2 spurt. Though the Monarchs prevailed and remained victorious with a score of 25-15.
 
King's ended the evening with 61 kills, 46 assists, 25 aces, 88 digs, and a hitting percentage of 0.233. Bolich had a team high of 14 kills and four blocks. Scott followed with 13 kills of her own. Keely Hoban (Jr.) set a standard of 23 assists and Shepherd had a whopping 11 aces. Morgan Williams (So.) sparked the defense with 29 digs.  
 
Valley Forge's Unique Castilho had 11 kills to fuel the offense. Telia was right behind with nine kills and had 21 digs. Caitlyn Fisher dished out 20 assists for the Patriots.
 
The Monarchs are back in McGrane Gymnasium on Saturday, September 30th to face off Morrisville State at 12 p.m. and Penn State- Harrisburg at 4 p.m. The squad will be on the road Wednesday, October 4th to take on Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opponent Arcadia at 7 p.m.
