WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 6, 2023) -- Three Monarchs score as King's College roles past Immaculata University 3-0.
The King's College Monarchs (1-2-0) took down Immaculata University (0-2-1) in their home opener Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium. The Monarchs struck early in the match as a
Leah Sankey shot bounced off the Mighty Macs goalkeeper's chest, and fell to the ground in front of
Maryanna Garcia who put the ball into the low right corner of the goal putting the Monarchs up 1-0 in the fifth minute of the match.
King's would pressure the Immaculata goal for the next 40 minutes outshooting the Mighty Macs 8-1 in the half. King's strong start carried into the second half of the game as the Monarchs recorded a goal immediately in the 47
th minute to the low left corner off the goal off the foot of
Madison Peacock.
Brooke Finlay would find herself with the assist. The Monarchs kept badgering the Mighty Mac goal for the remainder of the half, scoring again in the 78
th minute as
Liz Porto added the Monarchs third and final goal of the match. Porto's goal was assisted by
Leah Sankey .
The Monarchs out-shot the Mighty Macs on the night 17 to one, and recorded three goals off the feet of Garcia, Peackock, and Porto. Peacock also led in shots with five, followed by Garcia with three, and Sankey with two.
Aspen Wallin would record her first career shutout in net for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs will hit the road for their next game as they take on Juniata College Saturday, September 9, at 2pm.
