PITTSTON, PA (Jan. 19, 2024) - - King's College men's ice hockey lost to the Nazareth University Golden Flyers 3-0 after a tough second period of play tonight at the Monarchs' home rink, Revolution Ice Centre. This was the first contest of a two-game United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) series. King's is now 6-10-0 overall and 5-6-0 in UCHC play.
Both the Monarchs and Golden Flyers battled to find the back of the net throughout a penalty-filled first period, but despite having 10 shots on goal each, neither were able to capitalize their offensive opportunities and ended the period 0-0.
King's was able to hold off Nazareth for almost the first six minutes of play when the Golden Flyers scored their first goal of the night in the second period. In just over two minutes later, they scored their second goal and then their third at the 11:41 mark.
The Monarchs were able to prevent the Golden Flyers from scoring again for the remainder of the game, even in some close calls in the last 30 seconds of the third period with an empty net in an attempt to put one in the goal. Nazareth ultimately won 3-0 against King's.
Matt Bidini ended the evening with 25 saves.
Teodor Benno Vaage,
Patrick Nowak and
Erik Borschevsky all tallied a block on defense as well.
