Brighton Wallin found the back of the net with 6:21 remaining in the third to tie the game, but the comeback effort fell short as the King's College women's ice hockey team fell, 3-2, at Arcadia University in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs drop to 2-12-1 overall, 1-10-1 in the UCHC, and 1-6-0 in the MAC, while the Knights improved to 11-5-0 overall, 8-3-0 in the UCHC, and 4-1-0 in the MAC.

The King's (2-12-1, 1-10-1, 1-6-0) remained steady through the first 4:04 of action as
Hayley Packer made six strong saves while four Monarchs recorded blocks in the stretch before Arcadia (11-5-0, 8-3-0, 4-1-0) broke through and put up the lone goal of the first period at the 4:05 mark. The Monarchs fired off nine shots of their own in the period but could not find the equalizer as they trailed the Knights, 1-0, at the end of the first.

It was a battle throughout the second as each team had ample opportunities throughout the first 14 minutes, but it was the Monarchs who scored at the hands of
Abby Barlocker on an even-strength goal off assists from
Kait Wolf and
Brighton Wallin to tie the game at 1-1 at the 14:25 mark of the second. Packer saved the final four shots on goal in the last stretch to maintain the stalemate heading into the final period of regulation.

Arcadia struck early in the third just 2:35 into the period to take the 2-1 advantage. The Monarchs returned the fire, taking 12 shots before
Brighton Wallin scored in a power play opportunity in the 13
th minute off a feed from
Emma Dos Santos to tie the game yet again, 2-2, with 6:21 to go. King's took a costly penalty with 2:38 left on the game clock, and the Knights capitalized with the game-winning power play goal with 1:04 to play as the Monarchs fell, 3-2, at Arcadia on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton Wallin recorded two points on her goal and an assist off three shots with a block, while Barlocker and
Lucy Beal each posted a team-high five shots. Beal also led the defensive effort with four blocks, while Wolf, Dos Santos, and
Maddie Vaughan tacked on two each. Packer had a strong outing in goal for King's, recording 33 total saves including all 13 in the second period, and
Issy Lebrun led King's in the face off circle with 10 wins.

Three different Knights scored in the win, while Haylee Kos assisted on two of the three goals for Arcadia. Abbi Komrofske aided the defense with three blocked shots, and Hannah Bergeron earned the win in goal with 21 saves on the night.

As a team, the Monarchs won 25 face offs and totaled 23 shots, while the defense finished the night with 17 blocked shots.

King's will look to rebound next week in their UCHC series on the road at Neumann. First game in Aston, Pa. is scheduled for Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
