Butcher Sets New Record in the 500 Meter Dash to Highlight Day Two's Action at the Bison Open and Multi

LEWISBURG, PA (January 27, 2024) -- Ava Butcher set a new program record in the 500-meter dash, and Sophia Hahn and Mikaela Majcher each recorded new personal bests in their respective events to highlight action for the King's College women's indoor track and field team on day two of the Bison Open and Multi.
 
On the Track
60 Meter Dash

The trio of Sophia Hahn, Juliet Brady, and Abigail Springer accomplished the unimaginable in the event, as all three of the Monarch sprinters recorded a time of 8.49 seconds in their respective heats. The time also marks a new personal best in the event for Hahn.
 
400 Meter Dash
A pair of Monarchs competed in the event, led by Laura Dainauski with a time of 1:06.86 and Nicole Zambetti who finished in 1:07.59.
 
500 Meter Dash
Ava Butcher finished in the top 10 in the event, recording an indoor program record time of 1:24.84, while Liz Porto crossed in 1:35.45.
 
800 Meter Run
Zoe Tomko was the Monarchs representative in the 800 meter run as she recorded a time of 2:39.44.
 
Mile
Mikaela Majcher was the only King's runner in the race she posted a personal best time of 5:53.61.
 
4x400 Meter Relay
King's had two teams compete in the event, with the team of Juliet Brady, Abigail Springer, Sophia Hahn, and Laura Dainauski taking ninth in 4:37.62. The second relay team of Nicole Zambetti, Liz Porto, Julia Johnson, and Zoe Tomko finished 10th in 4:41.45.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Madison Armitage tied for 18th overall as she cleared a height of 1.45 meters.
 
Long Jump
In the long jump, Madelynn Perfilio recorded a mark of 4.74 meters on her third attempt.
 
Weight Throw
Anna Bellucci led four Monarchs in the event as she placed 11th overall and second among Division III competitors with a throw of 13.07 meters on her third attempt, while Caitlin Kirk finished 15th in the field of 37 with a mark of 12.65 meters on her first throw. Delaney Hilferty had the next-best mark on her second throw at 12.56 meters, while Rhian Crowley rounded out the King's throwers with a toss of 11.43 meters on her first attempt.

The Monarchs are set to make their next appearance on Saturday, February 3 in Alvernia's PLEX Shootout in Reading, Pa.
