WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 23, 2024) -- The King's College men's soccer team moves to 6-5-3, 1-2-1 MAC Freedom after falling 1-0 to Lebanon Valley College Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium. The Flying Dutchmen will move to 9-4-2, 3-0-1 MAC Freedom with the win.
Although both teams combined for 12 shots, six goalkeeper saves, four corner kicks and five fouls, the first 45 minutes of play ended scoreless. Â
In the second half, a foul was called on junior
Kyle Carroll in minute 67 that resulted in a penalty kick for the Flying Dutchmen. Midfielder Charlie McCormick put the ball past first year goalkeeper
Ben VanValkenburg to give Lebanon Valley the 1-0 lead. The 1-0 score stood as time expired.
King's tallied 12 total shots with nine being on goal. VanValkenburg finished the night with three saves, giving him 41 total saves on the season and amounting to a 0.820% save percentage.
King's is back in action on Saturday, October 26 as they host FDU-Florham for senior day at McCarthy Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
