HOBOKEN, NJ (October 29, 2024) -- The King's College men's soccer team moves to 7-5-4, 2-2-2 MAC Freedom after tying Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night at DeBaun Athletic Complex. The Ducks will improve to 8-3-4, 5-0-1 MAC Freedom with the draw, clinching the number one seed in conference playoffs.
Through the first 45 minutes of play, the two teams combined for ten total shots, four corner kicks and seven fouls. Yellow cards were issued to both King's first-year forward
Jackson Nuttall in minute 34 and Stevens' first-year defender Martin Fields in minute 35. A header attempt from the Ducks late in the game was deflected off the post, keeping the game scoreless at the half.
The Monarchs got on the board early in the second as junior defender
Kyle Carroll scored his first career goal in style. After a foul was issued to Stevens' Kyle Rothwell, junior midfielder took the free kick and delivered it right in front of the goal. Senior defender
Nate Horn had the initial flick forward, dropping it inside the six to sophomore defender
CJ Anderson who delivered a perfect low ball right to Carroll to capitalize. This was also Horn's first career assist.
In minute 80, a yellow card was issued to Max Rokhsar after tripping King's
Edson Munoz from behind. Four minutes later, Luke Carey scored the equalizing goal with an assist from Omar Martinez after the ball bounced off a few bodies inside the six and the Monarchs were unable to complete a clean clearance. King's bench received a yellow card following the goal. The 1-1 score stood as time expired. Â

Ben VanValkenburg concluded the night with seven saves, giving him 53 total saves on the season, amounting to a 0.828% save percentage.
King's is back in action on Saturday, November 2 as they travel to Center Valley, PA to take on DeSales in the final game of the regular season.
