WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 3, 2024) – The King's College men's tennis team downed the visiting Lycoming College, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon at Kirby Park. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 2-0, while the Warriors fall to 0-4.
King's cruised through singles play as
Patrick Pech defeated Joshua Neidert at No. 1 singles, and Jaocb Nelson downed Mohamed Ebeid at No. 5 singles, both by a pair of 6-1 sets.
Cody Zheng posted set wins of 6-4 and 6-2 at No. 2 singles over Matthew Baldridge, while
Brendan Turowski handed Logan Hammond sets of 6-3 and 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Pech and Zheng teamed up to defeat the Warriors No. 1 doubles pair, 6-4, while Turowski and Nelson posted a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 4 singles,
Stanley Shimko fell, 6-2 and 6-1, to Kayvan Shams, while
Gavin Hall dropped sets of 6-3 and 6-4 to Brian Hulsey at No. 6 singles. The No. 3 doubles pair of
Alex Nole and Hall faced a 6-1 setback to Lycoming.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host York (Pa.) at Kirby Park. Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
