WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 3, 2024) -- The King's College women's volleyball team defeated the Pacers of Marywood 3-0 in McGrane Gymnasium on Thursday night. This marked head coach Bernie Kachinko's 600
th career win following the match.

King's (12-4) controlled the matchup from the start with 13-4 lead thanks to tallies by
Kathy Shepherd (Jr.),
Theresa Lynch (Jr.),
Riley McArdle (Fy.),
Morgan Williams (Jr.),
Emma Bolich (So.), and
Lindsay Arezina (So.) to force a Pacers (3-12) time out. It was 19-7 when the two opponents began trading points with Marywood looking to create momentum. After an ace by Bolich, Monarchs won 25-11.

King's maintained their energy heading into the second set with another 10-3 run that included
Jessica Menze (Fy.), Shepherd, and Bolich. The Pacers would pester the Monarchs, but the hosts had every answer with a series of runs throughout the set. After scoring three straight points, King's remained victorious 25-16.

The third and final set of the evening was much like the first and the Monarchs had all the momentum. King's forced a Marywood timeout after producing a 14-3 jump that comprised of tallies by
Bella Salvia (Jr.), Lynch, Williams, and
Brynn Giordano (So). The Monarchs stayed in control for the remainder of the match and after a final kill by Lynch, King's polished off a 25-9 victory.

The Monarchs ended with 31 kills, 11 aces, 28 assists, five blocks, 50 digs, and a hitting percentage of .304. Shepherd had a team-high of six kills with a hitting percentage of .333. Salvia was right behind with five kills and earned a hitting percentage of .364.
Keely Hoban (Sr.) collected 16 assists and four aces. Bolich had eight points on four kills and three blocks. Williams fueled the defensive end with 23 digs.

The Pacers' Autumn Savitski (Sr.) led her squad with six kills and Jaedyn Laws (So.) dished out 13 assists. On the defensive end, Peyton Fischer (So) recorded 13 digs.

King's will be back home as they host Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opponent DeSales at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9
th. The crew will then travel to New Kensington, PA for a tri-match against Penn State New Kensington and Penn State DuBois at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 12
th.
