Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against York on Saturday Afternoon

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 5, 2024) -- The King's College women's tennis team came up short to the Spartans of York and lost 4-3 at Kirby Park. The Monarchs are now 0-2 overall and the Spartans improve to 1-2.
 
At No. 1 doubles, Ashley Kenia and Carlee Dellose were defeated 6-0 by Bri Serruto and Kennedy Conte on Saturday afternoon. Sarah Stettler and Alexis Turayev battled against York's No. 2 doubles, Caraline Junkin and Mia Leonhartt, but fell 7-5. The Monarchs No. 3 doubles stood victorious after a forfeit by the Spartans.
 
In Singles action, Kenia was defeated by Serruta at No. 1 singles,  6-2 and 6-4. At No. 2 singles, Dellose was dropped by Conte, 6-2 and 6-1. Stettler pestered Mia Leonhartt at No.3 singles, but ultimately lost 6-3 and 7-5.
 
Hailey D'Amato took home a 6-4 and 6-3 win over Junkin. King's won the No. 5 and No. 6 singles due to a York forfeit in both contests.
 
The Monarchs will finish their fall schedule with a home match at Kirby Park against cross town rival Wilkes on Sunday, October 20th.
