ASTON, PA (NOVEMBER 23, 2024) - The King's College women's ice hockey team tied the Knights of Neumann University 3-3 Saturday afternoon at the IceWorks Skating Complex. The entirety of the first 20 minutes went without any goals or penalties. Ani Quindipan began the second period in the penalty box as she was called or cross checking at 5:19. The first goal of the game came from Neumann's Gia Santorello at 6:38 with an assist from Kaylynn Savoy. A slew of penalties came through the remainder of the period as Brooke Markley was called for body checking at 8:00, Aspen Wallin for interference at 9:20, Quindipan for interference at 12:29 and boarding at 15:56 and Charlotte Labre for interference at 17:12. Savoy scored her own unassisted goal at 14:05 to give the Knights a 2-0 lead going into the second intermission.

At 9:03, Besa tied the game with assists from Brighton Wallin and Victoria Fleury-Wright. The Knights answered back at 16:40 as Lian Sydorowicz found the back of the net with an assist from Jamiyah Alexander. With less than ten seconds left in regulation, Maddie Vaughan assisted in a Brighton Wallin goal at 19:49 to tie it 3-3 and go to overtime for the second-straight game. Last night, her sister Aspen Wallin scored at 19:34 to do the same.

In the five minute overtime, despite the Monarchs going on a power play at 1:24 after Brooke Markley was penalized for tripping, the period remained scoreless and went to a shootout. Santorello scored in the second round to secure it for the Knights.

First-year goaltender Will McPherson recorded 28 saves with ten in the first period and Maddie Vaughan went 20-14 in faceoffs.

The Monarchs return home to the Revolution Ice Centre next weekend to take on Concordia University at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 29 and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.
